Blanc de noir
This unique wine is made of a single vineyard Syrah. The Syrah grapes are whole bunch pressed to ensure elegant extraction. Natural fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks as well as in French oak barrels. The portion fermented in oak adds to the complexity and texture of the wine.Maturation takes place on the lees which gives the wine a lovely richness. Salmon pink in colour, this delightful wine has beautiful savoury notes and a refreshing, creamy pallet.
This wine is done in collaboration with like-minded farmers who share our love for Chenin Blanc. Mainly older bush vines and some younger vines from unique sites were chosen to create this exciting wine. Natural fermentation took place in a 5000 litre French oak cask, some 2000 litre French oak foudres, seasoned barrels and stainless steel tanks. The use of different vessels meant different expressions of the Chenin Blanc fruit. The wine was aged for 9 months on the lees contributing to the freshness and richness of the wine. This wine exudes many layers of fruit. It can be served either at 11ᵒC or at 14ᵒC; it will develop beautifully in the glass. The elegant oak contribution adds to the texture and complexity of the wine. A rich and creamy finish to this delicious wine.
This white blend is the result our latest plantings and the vision to produce a great white Rhone style blend in the Breedekloof. The individual grapes are whole bunch pressed to ensure elegant extraction. Natural fermentation took place in seasoned French oak barrels adding layers of complexity. The blended wine was aged for 10 months on the lees contributing to the freshness and richness of the wine. An elegant white blend with beautiful floral and white spice notes which is complimented by rich layered fruit. A lighter style pallet with great fruit expression and a long finish.
This handcrafted wine is based on Syrah with small additions of our bush vine Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre. Natural fermentation took place in open top fermenters. Maturation took place in French oak foudres and barrels for a further 10 months. Fruit were sourced from our farm in the Breedekloof and some Syrah from the Swartland region. Fresh, pure fruit are complemented by beautiful perfume, a balanced pallet and elegant finish.
A fresh approach to this unique South African variety. Pinotage is part of our heritage and adds to the authenticity of our cellar. Natural fermentation took place in open top fermenters. Soft techniques were used to extract colour, fruit and tannin. The wine was aged a further 10 months in French oak foudres and barrels. Fresh berry notes are complimented by sweet spice and a well-balanced pallet.
This wine is a beautiful example of the combination of all of the Syrah vineyards on the farm. Natural fermentation took place in open top fermenters and a small percentage of whole bunches were kept to add complexity. Maturation took place in French oak barrels for a further 10 months. A fresh and richly textured wine with classic spice and intense fruit on the pallet.
